The Lenten Season

Lent is a 40 day period of preparing for the celebration of Easter and resurrection. It begins with Ash Wednesday, a day of remembering that Jesus came to the earth, preaching repentance and the forgiveness of sins. In the Bible, 40 days is a period of preparation: Noah on the ark, Moses on Mt. Sinai, Jesus in the desert where Satan tempted Him. The 40 days of Lent are a time for Christ's Church to spend time in prayer, reading scripture, fasting, and other acts of devotion. During that time we re-set our minds and hearts to be focused on a lifestyle of following Jesus faithfully.

Sundays during Lent are regarded as “little Easters” in which we remember that the whole reason Jesus came to this earth was to save us and bring us the promise of resurrection for those who accept Him as Savior. This invitation is open to all people.

Holy Week is the last week of Lent. It begins on Palm Sunday with the remembrance of Jesus' ride into Jerusalem where He was celebrated by the crowds as the coming Messiah. Maundy Thursday is the re-telling of the Last Supper, and Good Friday is the re-telling of Christ's arrest, crucifixion, death and burial. All of those events tell us WHY we need a Savior. Easter tells us THAT we have a Savior, Jesus Christ, our Everliving Lord. It is the highlight of our Christian year.

All are welcome to join us for worship and Lenten activities during this season:

Our Mission

As a member of the Global Methodist Church, our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. Our Vision is to join God in a journey of bringing new life, reconciliation, and the presence of Christ to all people, and to helping each person reflect the character of Christ.

Our Bay Vue Methodist motto is “Come as you are and leave transformed.” Therefore we believe in living for the Lord who has saved us, and who calls us to love and serve one another on His behalf.

Who Are We?

We are Bay Vue Methodist Church, a Global Methodist Church, as of January 1, 2023. We believe in the One True God, known to us as: God the Father, our Creator, God the Son, Jesus Christ our Savior, and God the Holy Spirit, our Guide and Comforter. The Apostles’ Creed is our statement of faith in the fully divine and fully human Jesus Christ who is ever-living and the Keystone of our faith.

We believe that God loves all and that Christ came to save the whole world, and therefore all people are to be valued and loved, by Christ and His church. We invite anyone who is seeking the Lord to be a part of our community of faith to “Come as you are and leave transformed”. This means there is no dress code here at the beach. And more than that, it means that Christ Himself invites us all to come and let Him transform us into people who live for Christ each day.

You are loved. Come and join us as we learn more about what that means, and then live that out in worship, prayer, study, and service.

Worship is at 9 am, followed by food and fellowship. God bless you!
